Corsair Cove Piers Guide

Choose and operate Shallow, Trade, and Deep-Water Piers in Corsair Cove, with camp assignment, ship-tier capacity, crew upkeep, and route checks.

Piers are where island logistics become fleet logistics. They build and repair ships, anchor crew upkeep to a Pirate Camp, and limit which ship tiers can be handled. Place a pier on a valid pier slot only after confirming the shoreline approach, camp range, construction stock, and the production capacity needed for its future crew.

The three pier stages

Shallow Pier

Builds and repairs ships through tier 3. It is the starting waterfront and supports the Landlubber plus early path-aligned vessels.

Trade Pier

Supports ships through tier 5 and can be upgraded from a Shallow Pier. Its construction commitment includes later materials and Coin.

Deep-Water Pier

Supports tier 6 ships and can be upgraded from a Trade Pier. It belongs to a mature economy with advanced construction goods and crew services.

These capacities are documented on the official Buildings wiki for the 1.0-era reference. Check the live tooltip before a large upgrade because material values can change with patches or wiki revisions.

Choose the pier slot by its whole route

A valid shoreline slot is only the first requirement. Trace a connection from the haven to the slot and reserve a workable approach around the future footprint. Then identify the camp that will support the pier. The best slot is one where ship construction materials and crew upkeep can arrive without forcing every Fetcher through a distant cliff bottleneck.

Leave room for defense. Crown ships can attack the island, and gun towers must face designated attack points. A pier route that blocks the useful defense angle or shares one fragile supply line with ammunition may become expensive later.

Camp assignment determines crew upkeep

Every crew member hired for a ship consumes upkeep through the pier’s assigned Pirate Camp. The camp needs the required community buildings simultaneously. For example, Swabbies use Stew and Booze, while advanced crew types add needs served through later facilities such as the Outfitter, Barber Surgeon, Marketplace, Arsenal, or Expedition Supplier.

Use the pier menu to verify its camp before hiring. A pier can be reassigned to another camp in range, but the change moves the demand; it does not create the missing goods or services. Compare housing, local transport, and net production on both sides first.

Match the pier to the ship plan

The Shallow Pier is sufficient through tier 3, including early specialist and hybrid ships. Tier 4 and tier 5 construction needs a Trade Pier. Tier 6 vessels need a Deep-Water Pier. Upgrading ahead of the Compass can lock valuable construction resources into unused capacity, so align the pier schedule with the next ship that solves an actual quest or event requirement.

The Ships guide lists how tier, class, required crew, and pier capacity interact. Remember that class fit matters: a more expensive tier does not automatically suit every event.

Prepare materials in two layers

Separate the cost of the pier from the cost of the planned ship. The pier upgrade consumes construction goods and Coin; the ship consumes its own Planks, Rope, Sails, and later specialized materials. Hiring the crew then creates ongoing upkeep. Reserve all three layers before dismantling or replacing the vessel currently serving your fleet.

Use a nearby Warehouse only when it has a clear stock role. Fetching pier materials from a buffer can simplify long routes, but unnecessary routes consume Drifters. The dock or pier can also act as a source for loot brought home, so temporary connections from the waterfront to a relevant production building may help process event rewards.

Launch checklist

  1. Confirm the pier tier can build the chosen ship.
  2. Verify the complete hull cost and leave construction stock for the island.
  3. Check that the assigned camp offers every community service needed by the intended crew.
  4. Compare the event’s recommended class, tier, and stats with the ship.
  5. Assign a captain whose traits or event abilities suit the task.
  6. Keep defense ammunition supplied while the ship is away.

The Seven Seas event panel should decide the loadout, not the visual size of the hull. Use Captains, Ship Crew, and Events for the rest of the departure plan.

When a pier will not operate

Check slot validity and continuous connection first. Then inspect construction materials and whether the current pier tier supports the selected hull. If crew hiring or upkeep is the problem, inspect the assigned camp, not only the island’s global stock. A full warehouse elsewhere cannot feed pirates when the required local community service is missing or disconnected.

Avoid labeling placement trouble as a game bug until these conditions have been checked. If the live tooltip and official rules still conflict, capture the slot, camp assignment, ship choice, and version in a support report.
