This FAQ answers questions for Corsair Cove, the full Steam game from Limbic Entertainment and Hooded Horse. Unless a question says otherwise, the product is base-game AppID 1368140, public version 1.0, released July 31, 2026. The separate free Demo is AppID 3858730 and has its own update history.
Buying, versions, and platforms
Is Corsair Cove in Early Access?
No. The official Steam announcement says Corsair Cove 1.0 went live on July 31, 2026, and the store lists it as released. A Steam BuildID or database changenumber is not a semantic patch number. As of the August 2 check, no later official base-game patch note was published after the launch announcement.
Is the Demo the same application as the full game?
No. The full game uses AppID 1368140; the Demo uses AppID 3858730. The June 10 “Demo Update #1” fixed demo crashes and tutorial issues and must not be presented as a full-game patch. No reliable official statement was found confirming demo save transfer, so plan to start the full release independently.
Which operating systems are supported?
The Steam store lists native Windows 10 64-bit support and DirectX 12. It does not list native macOS or Linux support. Valve compatibility metadata marks the Windows build Playable on Steam Deck through SteamOS/Proton, with caveats covered in the Steam Deck guide.
Is Corsair Cove multiplayer?
The official feature list identifies it as single-player. No co-op, PvP, cross-play, dedicated-server, or cross-save mode is advertised. The ships shown on the Seven Seas belong to the single-player simulation, not a shared online world.
Building and island questions
Is the island procedurally generated?
A developer-labeled reply on Steam says the map and islands are handcrafted because the game’s balance depends on fixed geography. You still decide where to build across cliffs and hilltops, so settlement layouts can differ greatly even on the same island.
Why will construction not start?
Most buildings must sit within reach of a Pirate Camp and remain continuously connected to the haven. Confirm camp range, then trace roads, rope bridges, cliff paths, ladders, ziplines, or elevators back to the settlement. Also check for available Builders and the complete construction cost. The connections guide separates those causes.
Can I turn off a building without demolishing it?
Yes. Buildings can be paused, which frees workers for other jobs and can stop a resource drain. This is often safer than demolition while diagnosing a production problem. Remember to re-enable the building after the worker or supply emergency ends.
Why is a connected building still idle?
Connection is only one requirement. A production building also needs full staffing, input goods in its internal storage, and free output space. Follow its Fetcher links and check for the red-hourglass warning. A full output store usually needs a consumer or warehouse route; an empty input store needs a working source.
Pirates, Cohesion, and upkeep
What is the difference between Hands and Crew?
Hands work on the island. They include Drifters, Builders, Fetchers, Greenhands, and Masterhands. Crew serve on ships and improve ship capability. Their upkeep is tied to the Pirate Camp assigned to the building or pier where they belong, so both groups affect the island economy.
How do I get more Drifters?
First confirm that existing Drifters have not automatically filled low-priority jobs. Pause a building or construction site to release workers. The official beginner resource also points to certain Seven Seas opportunities, such as prisoner-related events, as possible population sources; event availability is situational, so the Drifters guide starts with workforce recovery before external recruitment.
What happens when Cohesion reaches zero?
The official wiki states that reaching zero Cohesion loses the game, and calls it the only loss condition. Decisions, events, and Pirate Satisfaction can move Cohesion. Compass unlocks can add ways to gain Cohesion or raise its capacity. Watch the meter before accepting a costly decision and read Cohesion for recovery priorities.
Why did advanced crew create an upkeep crisis?
Higher ship tiers unlock crew types with more demanding goods. Crew consume those goods through the pier’s assigned Pirate Camp, and advanced tiers can require multiple community services simultaneously. Before hiring, inspect the crew list, camp services, net resource balance, and transport routes. Firing non-Swabbie Crew is documented as costing Cohesion, so over-hiring has a recovery cost.
Ships, events, and progression
Is the highest-tier ship always best?
No universal ranking fits every event. Tiers 1–6 summarize broad strength, while the four classes specialize: Prowler, Destroyer, Hunter, and Reaver. Events recommend a class, tier, or important stats. A lower-tier specialist can be a better fit than a stronger hull whose class is poorly matched.
Do ships sail and fight in real time?
Travel to an event happens across the Seven Seas simulation and can take several in-game minutes. Event resolution is turn-based through objectives, choice cards, ship stats, and dice. It is not direct-action manual sailing. Health and Crew are both defeat conditions; Supplies power many choices and can be recovered with support actions.
Can I pursue more than one Principle Path?
Yes. Notoriety, Empire, Seafaring, and Wealth can be pursued in parallel. Each grants Principle Points through associated quests or Deeds, and points unlock buildings, boosters, and ships on the Compass. Adjacent investments can also unlock stronger hybrid ship variants at specific borders.
How many quests are there?
The official wiki describes hundreds of quests and events: 14 linear tutorial quests, a main story, 20 quests across the four Principle Paths, and regional questlines. Because choices and outcomes are not completely documented, this site gives route structure and preparation advice rather than inventing a “complete” walkthrough.
Saves, achievements, and reliable information
Does Corsair Cove support Steam Cloud?
Yes, Steam Cloud is listed as a store feature. An exact, current Windows save-folder path was not verified. Use in-game saves, allow Steam to finish syncing, and avoid copying a generic Unreal Engine folder from an unrelated game. The saves guide explains a cautious conflict workflow.
How many Steam achievements are there?
The official Steam store lists 62 Steam achievements. The achievement guide displays the 39 entries currently disclosed on the Epic Games Store with their Epic XP values and explicitly separates the 23 hidden Epic entries. Epic XP and descriptions are not labeled as Steam metadata.
Where should I verify changing information?
Use the exact AppID’s Steam store for product features and requirements, Steam News for releases, and the Hooded Horse official community wiki for living gameplay tables. The official links page explains what each source can and cannot establish.
