Corsair Cove Upkeep Guide

Plan Corsair Cove housing, food, drink, clothing, medical, goods, weapon, and utility upkeep for island Hands and ship Crew.

Upkeep is the continuous cost of keeping pirates assigned. Hands consume goods through the Pirate Camp serving their building; ship Crew consume through the camp assigned to their pier. Build a positive supply margin before opening jobs or hiring a larger crew, because a stockpile can hide a negative rate only until it empties.

Start with housing, Stew, and Booze

Drifters, Builders, and Fetchers need housing. Greenhands add Stew. Masterhands require housing plus later food and drink. Basic ship Swabbies consume Stew and Booze. These early goods support both land and sea expansion, so a new pier can compete directly with production workers for the same supply.

Check the global net indicators and each source building’s production-versus-drain display. A positive island total is encouraging, but the correct camp still needs its connected Galley and Tavern to deliver the goods.

Community services route the demand

The official Buildings reference groups the main upkeep services:

Galley

Feeds pirates with Stew and progressively richer foods such as Cassava Bread, Roast Bird, and Turtle Soup.

Tavern

Provides Booze, Rum, and Wine to the occupations and Crew types that require them.

Outfitter

Handles clothing needs including Boots, Slops, and Fancy Clothing.

Barber Surgeon

Supplies Medicine, Eyepatches, and Prostheses.

Marketplace

Routes Tobacco, Tattoo Ink, and Jewellery for advanced demand.

Arsenal and Supplier

Provide Sabres, Pistols, Spyglasses, and Hardtack used by later ship Crew.

Unlocking a higher ship tier can unlock the buildings required for its crew after the ship is built. That new capability is also a warning: the economy is about to gain several advanced continuous drains.

Read crew demand before hiring

The official Pirates list ties crew types to ship classes and tiers. Scallywags and Picaroons appear on early class pairs; Bombardiers and Crow’s Eyes support tier 3–4 combinations; Buccaneers and Navigators support tier 4–5; Marauders and Renegades support tier 5–6; Corsairs serve tier 6 ships. Each introduces specific goods.

Do not hire to the maximum simply because the pier permits it. Compare the stat benefit with the camp’s ability to supply the complete roster. A basic crew can operate a ship with lower strength; a stronger crew raises capability and ongoing cost.

Follow a shortage to its camp

When pirates remain unsatisfied despite a global stockpile, identify their building or pier and its assigned Pirate Camp. Check that the required community service exists in the same camp, is connected, is staffed where applicable, has input storage, and can receive the good.

Goods can be transported from anywhere on the island, but service occurs through that camp. Repair the route or assignment rather than adding an unrelated global producer. If two camps overlap, reassign only after comparing both camps’ capacity.

Maintain a margin, not a moment

Upkeep is passive and continuous. Before hiring or opening jobs, let the current system run and observe whether stock rises. Then add one demand group and watch the new net rate. A temporary full store may be leftover inventory, not sustainable production.

Keep a reserve for travel and disruption. Fetcher delays, a disconnected bridge, a Crown attack, or a worker reassignment can interrupt the upstream chain. The larger and more advanced the population, the more separate goods can fail.

Reduce demand without creating a second crisis

Pause optional island jobs first. This releases Hands and stops their job-specific upkeep while preserving the building. Delay additional Crew hiring and keep ships in service with a sustainable roster. Firing non-Swabbie Crew costs Cohesion according to the official wiki, so use it only when the alternative is worse.

If a pier’s camp cannot recover, consider reassignment to another eligible camp that already has the required services. Confirm routes and capacity before switching; the full drain moves immediately.

Upkeep and Cohesion

Pirate Satisfaction contributes to Cohesion changes, and zero Cohesion loses the game. A failing upkeep chain is therefore not only an efficiency issue. Restore basic services before accepting risky events or opening luxury production. Compass buildings can add Cohesion options or capacity, but they do not feed an unsupported worker.

Use Cohesion when the campaign meter is already falling and Bottlenecks when one input chain will not recover.
