Corsair Cove production is controlled by three local states: inputs waiting inside the building, output space available for the finished good, and workers assigned to operate or transport the chain. The maximum rate in the production wheel is only potential. Long Fetcher routes, missing ingredients, full output storage, and absent workers all reduce what the island actually receives.
Read one building from top to bottom
Open a production building and identify its input icons, progress wheel, output storage, and recent production-versus-drain figure. Input storage must contain the complete recipe. The wheel shows the conversion and its maximum speed. Output storage must have room for the result. A blue meter shows how full that internal output is.
Drain describes how quickly output is being consumed or fetched compared with recent production. Positive production does not guarantee a stockpile if several consumers are draining the same source. Conversely, zero production can simply mean the output store is full and no destination is collecting it.
Start with demand, not a copied ratio
Name the final good and the reason you need it: construction, pirate upkeep, shipbuilding, defense, or an intermediate for another chain. Then trace backward through the Production Chain overview. The default hotkey documented by the official wiki is I; use the current keybinding shown by your game if it differs.
Build enough upstream capacity to feed that demand, but do not assume every value on a living wiki is current. As a concrete early example, the official reference shows the Sawmill converting Hardwood into Planks and a Compass booster increasing its output. The useful lesson is the relationship: a Sawmill needs steady Hardwood, labor, an output destination, and enough capacity for every consumer of Planks.
Divide chains by economic role
Construction
Planks, Stone Blocks, Rope, Sails, and advanced hull goods are spent in bursts. Maintain reserves before large building or ship commitments.
Upkeep
Stew, Booze, and later crew goods disappear continuously. Net production must remain above ordinary consumption, not merely spike before hiring.
Intermediate
Hardwood, Charcoal, Fabric, metals, and other inputs feed multiple destinations. A shortage here can stop several apparently unrelated products.

Assign Fetchers with intent
Buildings that consume other goods need Fetchers to move them one way from a source. Each route has its own worker. Select the input in the consuming building, then select the resource icon over the source to create the link. If the source also stops, the link can show a red hourglass.
Route colors under the default palette indicate high, medium, and low efficiency in green, yellow, and red. A distant producer may show a strong theoretical rate yet leave the consumer empty because the Fetcher spends too long walking. Shorten that route, add a nearer source, or introduce a carefully placed buffer.
Use buffers where timing matters
A Warehouse can separate a distant extraction district from a dense production district. Assign routes into the Warehouse for selected goods, then routes from the Warehouse to consumers. This costs additional Fetchers, so buffering every item wastes labor. Use it for shared intermediates, defense reserves, pier construction goods, or routes whose travel time causes repeated stoppages.
Do not let the Warehouse merely duplicate full output storage. Give it a stock purpose and recheck which direction every route flows. Warehouses explains configuration and failure diagnosis in detail.
Boosters do not fix logistics
Compass unlocks can add production bonuses to particular buildings. A booster raises potential output; it cannot supply absent inputs, create output space, staff the workplace, or shorten a red route. Apply a booster where the building is already continuously working and its product is genuinely constrained.
When a boosted building fills its output store, increase useful drain before adding more production. When it empties inputs faster, upgrade the upstream link. This keeps one improvement from moving the bottleneck into a less visible part of the chain.
Expand one measured step at a time
Let the simulation run after opening a new building or route. Check source drain, consumer input, output growth, worker availability, and upkeep. If the chain stays stable, add the next consumer. If a resource turns negative, pause the newest optional job and repair the exact shortage.
Avoid universal “one producer feeds two consumers” rules. Travel distance, worker availability, boosters, shared demand, and current version values all change the result. The production display on AppID 1368140 version 1.0 is the final measure for your island.
