Corsair Cove Vertical Layout Guide

Plan Corsair Cove cliffside districts with workable connections, short logistics routes, camp coverage, and room for later transport upgrades.

Vertical building works best when each cliff level has a purpose. Use scarce flat ground for structures that exchange goods frequently, put deposit-bound producers near their natural inputs, and reserve narrow edges for the connections that join those districts. Corsair Cove lets blueprints cling to slopes and hilltops, but every building still needs Pirate Camp range, a continuous haven connection, workers, and practical transport.

Survey before you place a district

Rotate the camera around the intended site and identify three anchors: the nearest Pirate Camp, the deposit or upstream producer, and the next consumer. A footprint that appears close from one angle may sit on a separate elevation with a long walk. Trace a plausible road, rope bridge, cliff path, or ladder before confirming the main building.

Preserve at least one connection approach to every important ledge. Packing buildings against each usable edge can leave no clean place for a later bridge, zipline, or elevator. The map is handcrafted, so you can learn useful chokepoints between runs, but the settlement layout and production demand still change with your choices.

Give each elevation a job

Resource ledge

Place extractors close to the deposit they require. Leave a clear route toward the first processor or a warehouse that collects their output.

Production shelf

Group buildings that exchange inputs often. Keep worker travel and Fetcher paths readable, with space for a second producer when drain exceeds output.

Community terrace

Housing and camp services belong where their assigned pirates can be supplied reliably. Do not isolate a Galley or Tavern from the camp that depends on it.

Waterfront

Protect pier slots, approach paths, crew-upkeep capacity, and nearby defense arcs. A pier is an economic anchor, not only a shoreline decoration.

This is a planning model, not a fixed optimal blueprint. Deposit locations, pier slots, attack points, and the buildings unlocked through the Compass determine what each area can support.

Build the connection spine first

Create the simplest reliable path back to the haven before adding side branches. Roads and cliff paths handle same-surface movement; rope bridges and ladders join separated heights and gaps. Later Compass options include ziplines and elevators, but an unlock should improve an existing transport problem rather than excuse an unusable first layout.

After construction, select a building and inspect its links. Default route colors show green, yellow, and red for high, medium, and low efficiency. Click a link icon to highlight that route. If most essential traffic crosses one red connection, reorganize the consumers around a nearer source or create a buffer before adding another distant chain.

Keep production partners close

Buildings with direct input-output relationships benefit from short routes. Hardwood flows into Planks; Stone may serve more than one downstream need; advanced chains share intermediate goods. Co-locating every producer is not possible, so prioritize the link with the greatest volume or most serious shortage.

Avoid making one spectacular central platform handle the whole island. Every Fetcher route is one-way and needs its own assigned worker. A long centralized network can exhaust Drifters and make failures difficult to trace. Several compact districts joined by deliberate transfer points are easier to expand and diagnose.

Respect camp borders

Every normal building must be within reach of a Pirate Camp, and its workers are housed and supplied by the assigned camp. When two camp ranges overlap, inspect the assignment rather than assuming the nearest camp serves the building. The building menu can reassign an eligible structure, but the receiving camp must have enough housing, workers, food, drink, and other services.

Plan remote terraces only after reading the Pirate Camps guide. A vertical district that is physically connected but economically assigned to an unprepared camp will stop for reasons that look like pathing.

Leave space for growth and defense

Reserve expansion room beside high-drain chains. If the island begins consuming more Planks or Black Powder than one source can provide, a second producer is easier to add when the first district is not packed edge to edge. Leave working space around pier slots and attack points too. Gun towers must face attack points and require supplied ammunition, so their footprint and delivery route belong in the layout plan.

Cliff paths can become single points of failure. If disconnecting one segment would isolate food, pier upkeep, or defense ammunition, create a second practical route when terrain allows. Redundancy matters most for services whose failure immediately affects Cohesion or Crown defense.

Repair a bad vertical layout

Pause the affected buildings first so their workers become available elsewhere. Select one downstream building and follow its links toward the source. Reconnect the shortest broken segment, then wait for staffing and storage indicators to update. Move or rebuild only the structure whose location creates the bottleneck; demolishing a whole district destroys the evidence that showed where the route failed.

Use Connections for unreachable-building faults, Warehouses for controlled transfer between districts, and Bottlenecks when the route is valid but throughput remains weak.
