Corsair Cove Ships Guide

Compare Corsair Cove ship tiers, Prowler, Destroyer, Hunter, and Reaver classes, hybrid ships, required piers, stats, crew, and event fit.

Choose a Corsair Cove ship by tier, class, and event fit, then confirm that the haven can build and crew it. Tier represents broad strength and progression. Class determines specialization. The event or quest tells you which strengths matter now.

Ship ladder and pier access

The Landlubber is the tier-1 starter and uses the Shallow Pier. Tiers 2 and 3 also use the Shallow Pier in the official index. Tier 4 and 5 ships require a Trade Pier. Tier 6 uses a Deep-Water Pier.

Unlocking a ship on the Compass is automatic when the required Principle Points have been invested; it does not consume an extra point. The same milestone can open production buildings and crew support needed for that tier.

Plan the pier upgrade, construction stock, and camp services as one project. A ship button becoming available does not mean the support economy is ready.

Four class identities

Prowlers belong to Notoriety, Destroyers to Empire, Hunters to Seafaring, and Reavers to Wealth. The official ship reference gives a concrete distinction: Destroyers specialize in gun damage and Armour, while a Seafaring quest example favors the Speed strength of Hunters.

Compare all specialized stats—gun damage, boarding damage, Speed, Manoeuvrability, and Armour—rather than reducing the classes to one label. The recommended ship on a quest is a strong clue about intended strengths.

Avoid a universal “best ship” ranking. A hull that excels at one class-aligned objective can be inefficient for another, and its upkeep chain can be harder for the current haven to support.

Hybrid plus ships

Eight ships are unlocked through adjacent Principle Path investment and carry a plus designation such as Destroyer+. The official sources describe these hybrids as significantly stronger than their same-tier peers.

The Compass example joins Empire’s tier-2 Iron Fist and Seafaring’s tier-2 Tide Runner to unlock the Steel Edge Destroyer+ between them. Hybrid access rewards a planned split; it also requires the construction and crew support associated with the resulting hull.

Choose a hybrid when both adjacent paths contribute useful settlement unlocks and the stronger ship answers upcoming events. Do not split solely to collect another hull icon.

General and specialized statistics

Health, Crew, and Supplies rise broadly with tier. Health and Crew are defeat conditions in battle: either reaching zero destroys the ship. Supplies can be restored during battle by spending from the other two, so a large supply pool is part of resilience but not a substitute for protecting the ship.

The specialized statistics determine how a class approaches tasks. Compare the staffed values after crew assignment. A crew list and captain can matter as much as the base difference between two nearby hulls.

Construction and crew readiness

Read the hull’s listed Planks, Rope, Sails, and later specialist construction goods. Reserve enough that the island can still feed workers, maintain connections, and repair the ship.

Next read permitted crew types. Higher ship levels introduce advanced Crew and the buildings for their upkeep. Those pirates consume through the camp assigned to the pier. Build the relevant community service and production chain before hiring.

Firing a non-Swabbie Crew member has a documented Cohesion cost, which makes speculative roster churn expensive.

Match a ship to an event

Use this selection order:

  1. Read the event’s recommended ship or emphasized strengths.
  2. Exclude hulls that cannot be fully repaired, crewed, and supplied.
  3. Compare specialized stats relevant to the task.
  4. Prefer an affordable lower-tier fit over an unsupported high-tier mismatch.
  5. Keep the recovery route and replacement cost in mind before accepting a dangerous battle.

If an attempt fails, identify which stat or resource ended first. Change that part of the plan rather than simply repeating with the same ship.

How many ship tiers exist?

Six. The tier ladder also tracks major Compass and production progression.

Which class has the most Armour?

Empire-aligned Destroyers specialize in gun damage and Armour in the official description. Individual staffed values still belong to the specific hull and crew.

Which class is fastest?

The official example associates Hunters with high Speed and Seafaring quests. Read the current ship panel for the exact candidate.

Are hybrid ships a separate Principle Path?

No. They appear between adjacent paths and are unlocked by reaching the required ships in both neighboring quadrants.
