Corsair Cove Steam Deck Guide

Corsair Cove is Steam Deck Playable through Proton; review small text, keyboard, glyph, graphics, performance, cloud, and support boundaries.

Corsair Cove is marked Playable on Steam Deck compatibility metadata for the Windows build running through SteamOS and Proton. Playable is a qualified status, not Verified. The recorded caveats include small text, manual on-screen keyboard invocation, controller glyphs that may not match the Deck, and manual graphics configuration.

Product and platform boundary

The base game is Steam AppID 1368140. The Steam store lists Windows 10 64-bit and DirectX 12 as native requirements and does not list a native Linux depot. Steam Deck runs the Windows version through Proton. Do not describe this as native Linux support or infer that a desktop Linux distribution has the same compatibility result.

The separate Demo is AppID 3858730. A successful demo launch or demo-era compatibility post does not prove identical base-game 1.0 behavior.

First-launch setup

Install through the Steam library and launch with the default compatibility selection first. Allow shader processing or first-run setup to complete. At the main menu, open graphics settings and choose a conservative preset rather than importing an unofficial configuration.

Test a new or disposable save through island camera movement, building placement, the resource overview, Compass, pier, world map, and one event interaction. These interfaces expose the text, focus, and controller limitations more clearly than the title screen.

Make small text usable

The compatibility note identifies small in-game text. Use the Deck’s magnifier when a tooltip or dense table is unreadable, and test any UI-scale option offered by the current game. Avoid forcing a higher resolution that makes text smaller while increasing GPU load.

For long planning sessions, an external display, mouse, or keyboard can improve access, but that is a user choice rather than a requirement stated by the store. Report unreadable text with the exact panel and Deck display resolution.

Handle keyboard and glyph caveats

Some text fields may require manually invoking the Steam on-screen keyboard. Keep the Deck shortcut available when naming saves or entering text. If the keyboard covers the field, finish the entry, dismiss it, and verify the result before confirming.

Prompts may show icons that do not match Deck controls. Follow the active Steam Input layout. Begin with the default layout and change one mapping at a time; a large community configuration can make it difficult to distinguish a game prompt problem from a custom binding.

Configure graphics for the Deck

The compatibility record notes that graphics settings need manual configuration. Use in-game options only. Start with the current preset, choose a stable frame-rate goal within the Deck performance menu, and adjust resolution or the largest visible options one step at a time while testing the same settlement scene.

Simulation load can increase with population, active production, Fetcher routes, ships, and speed. If reducing visual settings does not change the slowdown, pause the simulation and compare. That separates GPU pressure from a large-island simulation cost.

No universal 1.0 Deck preset has been verified here. Game updates, Proton versions, SteamOS, and settlement scale can change the result.

Saves and Steam Cloud

Steam lists Cloud support for Corsair Cove, which can help move saves between a Windows PC and Deck. Allow synchronization to finish before launching on the second device. If Steam reports a conflict, compare timestamps and device context rather than selecting a copy at random.

Keep an in-game manual save before switching devices. An exact Linux or Proton-prefix save path is not published here; copying a generic path risks editing the wrong application or user prefix. The Saves guide provides the safe workflow.

If the game will not launch

Restart the Deck, update SteamOS through the stable channel, verify game files in the Steam client, and retest the default compatibility configuration. Remove custom launch options before filing a report. Record whether the problem began after a game update, SteamOS update, Proton change, or custom layout.

Do not apply the Demo’s June crash hotfix history to the base game. Report AppID 1368140, version label, SteamOS version, selected Proton version if manually changed, and the last visible screen.

What Playable does not guarantee

Playable does not promise native Linux, perfect glyphs, fully controller-optimized panels, readable text without assistance, or a fixed frame rate for every haven. It does establish that Valve’s compatibility process found the Windows build usable with the listed caveats at the recorded test point. Recheck the Steam compatibility details after updates.
