Corsair Cove Ship Crew Guide

Hire Corsair Cove ship Crew by class and tier, compare stat value with upkeep, support the pier's camp, and avoid costly dismissal.

Ship Crew improve a vessel’s stats and keep it operational, but every hire adds ongoing demand to the Pirate Camp assigned to the pier. The best loadout is the smallest sustainable roster that gives the selected ship enough Health, Crew, Supplies, and specialized stats for its event. Filling every slot can weaken the island if the camp cannot supply the required goods.

Begin with the ship’s allowed crew types

The ship panel and official Ships list show which crew types each hull accepts. Swabbies work on every ship. Later types are shared by class pairs and ship tiers: Scallywags or Picaroons in early specialized hulls, Bombardiers or Crow’s Eyes around tiers 3–4, Buccaneers or Navigators around tiers 4–5, Marauders or Renegades around tiers 5–6, and Corsairs at tier 6.

Do not build a crew plan from names alone. Open the intended event and identify the stats that matter. Hire the type and quantity whose bonuses move those specific values.

Balance baseline and specialization

Ships have broad Health, Crew, and Supplies plus Gun damage, Boarding damage, Speed, Manoeuvrability, and Armour. Class determines the hull’s natural specialization. Crew can strengthen those values, but they do not erase the class identity.

Prowler

Notoriety-aligned hulls favor their own stat profile. Use accepted crew to reinforce the event requirement rather than copying a Destroyer roster.

Destroyer

Empire ships are documented as strong in gun damage and armour. Bombardier, Buccaneer, or Marauder access depends on tier.

Hunter

Seafaring ships excel at Speed and share several specialist types with Destroyers or Prowlers across tiers.

Reaver

Wealth ships use their own specialization and share crew branches with Prowlers or Hunters depending on the stage.

Use the live ship panel for the actual stat increase because the official wiki’s numeric tables can change and contain incomplete fields.

Price the upkeep before the hiring fee

Crew hiring costs their upkeep goods, and those goods continue to be consumed after assignment. Swabbies use Stew and Booze. Advanced types add Rum, Cassava Bread, Medicine, Boots, Turtle Soup, Slops, Tobacco, Eyepatches, Wine, Tattoo Ink, Sabres, Spyglasses, Prostheses, Hardtack, Fancy Clothing, Pistols, and Jewellery in documented combinations.

The pier’s assigned camp must offer all relevant community services at the same time. A large global inventory cannot replace a missing Galley, Tavern, Outfitter, Barber Surgeon, Marketplace, Arsenal, or Expedition Supplier in that camp.

Hire in measured steps

Select the hull, reserve its construction goods, and confirm the pier tier. Let the intended crew-upkeep stock rise under existing demand. Hire a partial roster, watch the camp’s net production, and compare the ship’s event stats. Add more only when the improvement is useful and sustainable.

A current specialist reference reports that basic crew can operate a ship below maximum strength. That makes gradual hiring preferable to an all-or-nothing assumption. Verify the live minimum and maximum in the 1.0 pier interface.

Avoid dismissal as routine optimization

Firing a non-Swabbie Crew member costs one Cohesion according to the official Pirates page. Do not hire a full specialist group just to test a small stat difference. Save first, inspect the projected economy, and use the current event recommendation.

If upkeep becomes negative, repair production and pause optional island jobs before firing. Reassigning the pier to another eligible camp can help only if that camp already has the right services and routes.

Prepare for loss and replacement

Health or Crew reaching zero during an event destroys the ship. The lost hull represents construction materials, while the crew represents both hiring goods and ongoing production investment. Keep replacement stock for critical routes and avoid risking the only ship capable of reaching an essential region when the event match is poor.

Supplies can be replenished during battle at a cost to other ship resources according to the official Ships page, while support cards can restore Supplies during event play. A larger crew does not remove the need to manage those choices.

Pre-embark crew check

  • The hull accepts every selected crew type and the pier supports its tier.
  • The event’s important stats improve meaningfully with the roster.
  • The assigned camp has all required community services and positive supply.
  • Hiring leaves enough goods for Hands, defense, and ship repair.
  • Dismissal is not required to recover immediately after the mission.
  • A captain has been chosen for the same event profile.
